I continue to be in awe of the camera because with it one has the ability to preserve life. As I look through old albums that belonged to my grandparents, and my own wedding album, I can’t help but be filled with delight and a deep thankfulness for what I hold in my hands. This is because, through those images, I am able to participate in the life, love, joy, and yes, sometimes even the grief and sadness, of my family. This is priceless to me. I know that it is also priceless to my clients.
I accept a limited number of weddings each year, and fill the rest of my time with engagement, bridal, family, maternity, and newborn sessions. I also teach photography classes at Dallas Baptist University, a job I have been honored with for the past six years. As the saying goes, "If you want to learn something better, teach it!"
This blog is meant to be an outlet for various ramblings and updates, as well as "teasers" from recent sessions I've done. I had the pleasure of visiting with one of my best friends a couple of weeks ago, and OF COURSE we did some family photos! We started with the newest addition to the family, three-month old Baby J. He is such a sweet boy…. very laid back, he takes it all in stride. I have a feeling that with two older sisters, that laid back attitude might just come in handy!!
It’s late and I should have been in bed long ago, so here are just a few…. check back soon for more of the whole family!!
I wanted to give everyone an update on the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night Walk that I participated in this past weekend. I was able to raise over $900, which was almost DOUBLE my goal!!! Thank you so very much to each person who donated. Words cannot tell you how thankful I am for your generosity.
My good friend Sarah, and her adorable son, joined my husband and I as we walked through downtown Fort Worth. We had such a great time together! I do think this will have to become an annual Swan Family (and friends!) activity.

I had a great time at Jen and Allen’s wedding yesterday out in Edgewood, Texas. It was a small, quaint wedding, full of little details that fit Jen’s personality to a T. Elegant fun is how I would describe it!! And it was perfect for them.
Jen and Allen, thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of such a precious day! I will not soon forget it.

I had a blast with the Fig family the other day at a neat little park just outside of the San Antonio Zoo. We enjoyed a varied animal soundtrack as we walked around and played.
As the Figs are good friends of ours, my husband tagged along for the fun, and I have to say, I was thrilled! He was really good at entertaining the little one and was able to get smiles out of her when no one else could. To see her scowl turn into a great big grin when he started talking to her was a hoot!! I do think I may have some female competition….

I created this slide show a while back, but have only just now decided to post it here for all of you to see. I had a lot of fun creating this one! It certainly challenged my rhythm skills.
