Jenny and Brad got married this past weekend!!! This was a very special wedding because both the bride and groom have been a part of the Wounded Warriors Unit at Brooke Army Medical Center here in San Antonio for the past year. Brad was injured in Iraq early last year (hit by a rocket-propelled grenade), and Jenny was injured here at Ft. Sam Houston during training. They are both very special people, and they had a very special ceremony….a first in many respects! They were the first wounded warriors from BAMC to marry, the ceremony was performed by another wounded warrior, John Wolf, their ring bearer is the daughter of yet another wounded warrior, and the wedding ceremony took place at the brand new Warrior and Family Support Center. It was a beautiful celebration, to say the least!
There is a story behind the ring shot. Every Thursday night the staff at the Warrior and Family Support Center host a night of dinner and bingo. When you live in the Fisher House (as all of us did) and have days filled with Dr. appointments, Thursday night bingo becomes the bright spot in the week! All of us looked forward to it! So every Thursday night, we all walked over to the WFSC (in the old building), ate dinner together, and played bingo. It was so much fun! So, when I started thinking about how I wanted to shoot their rings, it only took me about .001 seconds to decide on a bingo card. Perfect.
Brad and Jenny, thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of your beautiful day!
