alix and clay :: 04.18.09

I was honored to second shoot a wedding with my sweet friend, Ginger, from A Moment In Time Photography a couple of weekends ago in Austin, Texas. After a bit of worry about area thunderstorms, it turned out to be a gorgeous day!! We started out at the Barton Creek Resort and Spa where everyone primped and relaxed. Then we moved to the fabulous One World Theatre for the ceremony and after party. I LOVED this location!! It was a breathtaking backdrop for Alix and Clay’s vows and the perfect place to celebrate. :)

Thank you to Ginger, Alix, and Clay for letting me tag along!!

Finally, I have to give a shout out to Funky Brass Factory. They were fantastic!!! If you’re getting married in the Austin or San Antonio, Texas area and looking for a great band that will keep the party going, these are your guys! Call them. You won’t regret it.

Yes, I’m here!

I did, in fact, return from my cruise, for those of you who may be wondering! I’ve just been super busy in the past three weeks and blogging got put on the back burner. Bad, I know. I’ve chastised myself for days now and I do feel adequately guilty. :) So, I thought I’d pop in real fast and share a few images from our vacation. We had a blast and got to know several other couples we hadn’t previously crossed paths with at Brooke Army Medical Center. Overall, it was a great break from the daily grind, and a fabulous few days of just concentrating on US.

We got a kick out of the various animals waiting to greet us in our room each day! My favorite was the elephant.

We had a formal night where uniforms were encouraged. I didn’t mind at all!! I love seeing Rich in his uniform. Reminds me of our wedding day. :) Note to self….improve posture!

We ported one day in Progresso, Mexico. We spent the afternoon poking around some of the Mayan ruins and a little town nearby.

We found that the local cemetery was very colorful! And the local food, very good!

The water was beautiful. I’m afraid this image doesn’t accurately depict the color. Oh, and one afternoon they were serving ice cream swans at lunch. I thought it was cute. :)

Check back again soon as I do have some work I’ll be blogging!!

sailin’ away

Anyone else like David Gray? He’s an old favorite of mine. There’s something comforting in his voice…. It’s soothing. ANYWAY, I’ve been humming the chorus from one of his songs this evening as I’ve been packing for a little trip with my honey! Rich and I are leaving in the early a.m. tomorrow for a cruise!! And it’s not just any cruise. Oh no. This is a marriage enrichment cruise! We’re joining several other couples who are also a part of the Warriors in Transition Battalion at Brooke Army Medical Center for a week of marriage enrichment and FUN, facilitated by several of our wonderful chaplains from BAMC. We’ve really been looking forward to this. Partly because, well, who doesn’t love a vacation??? But also because it is allowing us some time to just get away and concentrate on US. We’re leaving our laptops and cell phones behind!!! AND, the only camera I’m taking is our point and shoot. I know! You might be thinking that my brain is a bit addled, but it’s not. I’m just determined that I won’t be tempted to go into “work” mode. Instead, I’m going to relax, enjoy this time with Rich, and just take point and shoot snapshots like everyone else. :)

So, all of that to say, should you call or email me, I won’t be getting back to you until NEXT Friday. But no worries, I WILL get back to you. And I might even send you a few of my snapshots! ;)

Cheesy as it may seem, here’s the bit of Mr. Gray’s song that has been swirling around in my head:

Sail away with me honey
I put my heart in your hands
Sail away with me honey now, now, now
Sail away with me
What will be will be
I wanna hold you now

(note: should you know this song, or look up the lyrics, nothing other than this chorus applies!)
